A Family Date Night!

It has been a long week of classes and work so we thought we would take a night out and treat ourselves. We took the kids to Penn Station, where we could have a Philly Cheese Steaks and great fries. The Kids enjoyed every minute.

Max went with the nutrious choice of fries, ketchup, and root beer.

After dinner we went to Bruster's Ice Cream. It is one of the best ice creams I have ever had. They make it fresh every day. Max had smores and it was fantastic. He loved it so much he shared it with his face, shirt, shorts and shoes.

Anna got a kids cone with a baby face and hair. She did fall down and get a boo boo which made her sad.

I finished up one class, "Theology of Ministry" on Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday we had Carol Childress and Carol Davis, from Dallas and LA respectively, come and share with us about what God is doing in the world and in the church and how we can be a part of it. We have heard much over the past two weeks about the church becoming missional again like it was when it first began. This has excited me and also stretched my thinking.

Tomorrow I leave for a silent retreat, yes you read that right (no talking), all weekend long at Gethsamane Monestary in KY. Thomas Merton, famous mystic writer in 1930-1950's was there. It should be a great weekend. Kate's mom and dad and brother Kevin and Lisa are coming up as well. I will be back Sunday afternoon. Talk to you then.
